A Message from Board President, Kathy McCollow

On behalf of the Van Wert County Agricultural Society, we welcome you to the 166th Van Wert County Fair, August 30th through September 5, 2022.

It has already been a very busy calendar year for the Fair Board with many events happening on the grounds even before the fair. We enjoyed a successful Reverse Raffle and Spring Fest and look forward to many other attractions that will be held on the ground after the fair, such as the Northwest Ohio Trader Days, Open Beef Show, Bluegrass Festival, Harvest Happenings, Apple Festival, Dairy Barn Emporium, and capping off the end of the year with a Winter Wonderland in coordination with the 4-H Exchange Club.

A first for the board this year was the addition of 3 more members to bring our total board to 18 strong. This has not only helped to diversify the board but also gives us more physical help to accomplish all the tasks that go with putting on a successful fair. It is also important to thank all of you, our exhibitors and patrons that have so graciously supported us this year. We look forward to entertaining you with additional rides, games, live entertainment and of course…fair food!!

We salute our 4-H advisors and extension leaders for all their work, for it is our mission to educate and preserve our agricultural roots through youth and our community. We have between 350-450 kids in the 4-H program and FFA. This number is up substantially from 2021 and we are grateful for leaders and parents that make this possible. There was also a new horse club started this year with approximately 20 members. We are thrilled to see growth in this area!

Among many of our grounds improvement projects, you will see that the fence along Washington street is almost complete. As we continue to improve our grounds we will keep you informed with opportunities for individual and community financial support.

Thank you for helping us make Van Wert County fair one of the premier fairs in the state of Ohio. We greatly appreciate all of your support. Come out and enjoy the fair!
