Once again we are offering a wonderful line up of Christian music this year at the 167th Van Wert County Fair. This year’s fair begins on Tuesday, Aug 29 and you will want to make your way to the Gospel Tent just north of the Administration building on the East side of the fairgrounds as we kick off the festivities with Gold City Quartet at 7:00 pm.
Since 1980, gospel music fans world-wide have been in love with the trend-setting style of Gold City. From their inception, this quartet’s goal has been to use the musical gifts the Lord has given them the best way they know how to honor God, witness to the lost, and encourage the saved. With 10 number one songs, multiple radio hits, and numerous industry accolades, this Dove Award-winning quartet has achieved legendary status as they have remained atop the gospel charts consistently in each of the past four decades. They have won over 60 Singing News Fan Awards as a group and among the individual group members. Historically, they’ve introduced some of the most important songs in all of gospel music to audiences everywhere, including “Midnight Cry,” “Under Control,” “I’m Not Giving Up,” “It’s Still The Cross,” and “In My Robe of White.”
Wednesday, Aug 30 is Senior Citizens Day (seniors admitted FREE until 4:30 pm) and it is sponsored by CHP Home Care & Hospice. The special senior festivities will start in the Midway Entertainment tent on the west side of the Commercial Building. FREE Donuts & Coffee will be served at 8:45 and then CHP will present a program a various topics related to the Senior Population of Van Wert County. Various presenters will also be set up with information and representatives if you would like more information. At 11:30 the fun moves to the Gospel Tent where you can enjoy the music of Melvin Mullins (presented by Van Wert County Counsel on Aging) at our Senior Dance! There will be snacks to enjoy and some great tunes too. At 1:30 we will switch gears and you will be able to try your hand at some FREE Bingo. New this year, the Crestview Bible Board will be holding a scavenger hunt for kids in the Gospel Tent at 3:30 on Wed., Aug 30. All ages are welcome.
On Thursday, Aug 31 the Portal 2:20 Teen Center will host a Free Karaoke & Dance Party for students from 6:00-9:00pm. As a fundraiser for their new building the will be selling refreshing drinks from The Well. Sharing Music from the Heart… Family Style! Join The Browns as they Celebrate 20 Years of Singing as they entertain and minister on the North Outdoor Entertainment Stage at 7:00 pm on Friday, Sept. 1. It’s truly a family affair when The Browns hit the stage with their music. The Dove Nominated, musical stylings of Adam, Michaela, Shelly and Andrew exude excitement on the stage and offer an experience to all who hear them. The Browns deliver the powerful message of the gospel through word and song that engage audiences of all ages. The Browns have been touring across the United States since the group began 20 years ago. The heralded group began on the local and state level and has expanded and grown into a national and international touring group. This Iowa Farm family is right at home at the county fair.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Van Wert will hold Mass on the fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept 2 at 6:00 pm in the Gospel Tent. Also, Zion Christian Union will hold
church services on Sunday, Sept 3 at 10:30. All are welcome to attend. Sunday evening at 6:30 the North Outdoor Entertainment stage, sponsored by
Advanced Insurance Group, will present 7eventh Time Down. Monday, Sept 4 LABOR DAY, Children Choosing Christ will have a program for kids beginning at 11:00 am. The Trinity & Friends (sponsored by Rod & Kelly Cooper-Cooper Grain Farms, LLC.) will begin at 4:00 pm. This year Trinity will be joined by Randy Long from Ft. Wayne, IN and Mark & Cindy Maynard from Powell, OH. Gospel Expo fans have enjoyed all three of these ministries over the years.
