2010 Running Race Rules
Entries close Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 12:00 Noon
1. Pari-Mutuel wagering will be under the supervision of the Ohio State Racing Commission on all
Thoroughbred & Quarter Horse Race events. All winners & other selected horses will be tested by
state veterinarian.
2. Registration papers must be presented at the speed office before 10:00 A.M. on the
day of the race.
3. The first eight (8) horses entered in the 1 1/8 Mile Derby with entry fee paid
shall be the entries for this race. Race will not be split.
4. First entry made with the entry fee paid for Quarter Horse open events shall be
the starter. If more than eight (8) horses are entered in the Open Quarter Horse races,
the race will be split and raced in two (2) or more divisions, and the purse will be divided
equally for each division, but each division will not be raced for less than 75% of the
original purse.
5. No owners or stable may enter more than two (2) horses in any one (1) event.
6. All running races are dash events. Purses divided 50-25-15-10-%. The Van Wert County
Fair reserves the right to rejects any entry or declare off any event that fills with less
than four (4) entries at time of closing.
7. All Jockeys must be 16 years of age or older, wear colors, and weigh at least 100
pounds or carry weight to equal same.
8. Any owner or stable having two (2) entries in the same event must mark the declarations as
an entry so that if the race is split, the entries will be put into seperate divisions.
9. No horse may be entered in more than one (1) race.
10. Any objections must be filed with the presiding judge before the race is made official.
11. A trophy will be awarded to the owner of the winning horse.
12. Any person 9 years of age & over must pay gate admission to enter fairgrounds.
13. All owners, his jockeys, his trainers, or his agents, shall hold harmless the Van Wert
County Agricultural Society, its directors, or agents, for any accident, injury, or personal
property damage that may occur to them either during the races or between or before or after races.
